The fuel dock at Lahaina Small Boat Harbor was reopened in August 2024, restoring a critical service for commercial and recreational vessels.
The harbor reopened on December 15, 2025 for limited daytime commercial operations typically between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm (loading/unloading with select operators), even as reconstruction continues. Early commercial operators include Atlantis Submarines, Kula Fishing, Sail Maui and Sea Link Hawaii. Trilogy Excursions will soon be back also.
Outer marginal wharf reconstruction is actively underway with $8 million released in January of 2026 for rebuilding this essential part of the harbor infrastructure.
Inner marginal wharf, loading piers, and dinghy docks remain in the process of reconstruction and planning.
Mooring anchor blocks, steel and concrete piles that support boat mooring areas, are being removed and replaced as part of the rebuild.
Dredging and bathymetric surveying (to clear debris and reopen deeper channels) continue as part of making the harbor fully usable.
Assessment and repair of water system leaks and utility infrastructure (lighting, electrical) are in progress or planned as part of the broader restoration.
Reconstruction of front row piers and dinghy dock areas is underway as resources and planning continue; these are key for smaller vessels once full restoration is complete.
The entire inner and outer marginal wharf system still requires reconstruction to pre-fire structural integrity — not yet complete as of early 2026.
While anchor blocks are being replaced, full mooring services for all vessels (especially overnight moorings) has not yet resumed — this is awaiting wharf and utility completion.
Comprehensive electrical systems, lighting, potable water systems and wastewater services are not fully restored and remain part of the broader rebuild.
The harbor’s restoration remains a phased, multi-component effort. Some essential functions like fueling and limited commercial use are restored, but major structural work (wharves, piers, moorings, utilities) is still in progress — targeted for completion later in 2026, with full operational capacity likely extending into late 2026 and beyond.
